WANT TO MAKE USE OF THE DATA?

CHECK encourages scientific researchers to reuse the data. This is possible via the online archiving system EASY (easy.dans.knaw.nl) of Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS). The data are stored in four separate datasets in EASY. See the overview below with a direct link to each dataset. All (data) files remain under embargo until May 2 2016. The first dataset is directly available for registered users. The other datasets are available when permission has been granted by CHECK. You can send in a permission request for each dataset via EASY via the tab ’Data files’ after logging in.

  • CHECK (Cohort Hip & Cohort Knee) data of baseline (T0). This dataset covers the data collection of baseline (T0) without the variable ‘Subject identification number’. Also X-rays of hips and knees of baseline are available. More information on the variables can be found in the documentation.
  • CHECK (Cohort Hip & Cohort Knee) data of baseline to 5 years follow-up. This dataset covers the data collection from baseline to 5 years follow-up: T0, T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5. All data files include the variable ‘Subject identification number’. Also X-rays of baseline, 2 and 5 year follow-up visits are available.
  • CHECK (Cohort Hip & Cohort Knee) data of baseline and 6 to 8 years follow-up. This dataset covers the data collection of baseline and 6 to 8 years follow-up: T0, T6, T7 and T8. All data files include the variable ‘Subject identification number’. Also X-rays of hips, knees, hands and spine of T8 are available. The X-ray data are not included in the dataset, they are stored outside of EASY. More information on the variables can be found in the documentation.
  • CHECK (Cohort Hip & Cohort Knee) data of baseline and 9- 10 years follow-up. This dataset covers the data collection of baseline and 9-10 years follow-up: T9 and T10 All data files include the variable ‘Subject identification number.’ Also X-rays of hips and knees of baseline and 10 year follow-up visit are available. The X-ray data are not included in the dataset, they are stored outside of EASY. More information on the variables can be found in the documentation. Please note: this dataset is not yet available. It is expected to be archived in EASY in March 2016.
  • The X-ray data are not included in the datasets. They are stored outside of EASY and will be made available on request when applicable.

Please note that the CHECK conditions of use include that:

  • For a description of the CHECK study / population / method / inclusion must be used the description of the CHECK research described in: Wesseling J, Boers M, Viergever MA, Hilberdink WK, Lafeber FP, Dekker J, Bijlsma JW. Cohort Profile: Cohort Hip and Cohort Knee (CHECK) study. Int J Epidemiol. 2014 Aug 29.
  • If an article uses only data from the CHECK study, the term CHECK study should be mentioned in the title of that article.
  • CHECK recommends the manuscript before it is submitted emailing CHECK, so the consistency of the description of the CHECK study can be assessed.
  • The following text included in the acknowledgment:
    • The CHECK-cohort study is funded by the Dutch Arthritis Foundation. Involved are: Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam; Kennemer Gasthuis Haarlem; Leiden University Medical Center; Maastricht University Medical Center; Martini Hospital Groningen /Allied Health Care Center for Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Groningen; Medical Spectrum Twente Enschede /Ziekenhuisgroep Twente Almelo; Reade Center for Rehabilitation and Rheumatology; St.Maartens-kliniek Nijmegen; University Medical Center Utrecht and Wilhelmina Hospital Assen.
